He was my favorite in his prime (10 years ago). Quiet, showed up and played golf. Hit the ball long, hit his irons close, made more than his share of putts. I had given up on him. In a golf world where you have to choose between the caustic, condescending Tiger, that only smiles when he sells you something, and the stumbling, bumbling Phil that seemingly smiles only in the face of yet another meltdown, I find it truly special to root for David Duval to make it all the way back and reclaim the #1 spot in the world rankings and have a Hoganesque finish to his career where he excels from the age of 37 to his mid 40's. Nothing would make me happier then to see him win 4 or 5 majors and force Tiger to dig down deeper as he realizes catching Jack is not going to be as easy as first thought. Don't get me wrong, I truly respect Tiger as a golfer, but he's got enough people rooting for him. Phil hasn't been able to do it. VJ did it for a bit during Tiger's down period, but here's hoping Duval can truly put the challenge to Tiger. Its called true competition. It's been a while since the PGA Tour had it.

I agree but he's now 37(can you believe that?). I'd love to see him have a VJ run into his 40's.
